Long jump

We've put together some Powerpoint slides showing the hare competing in the long jump. The illustration and text are from the picture book and we've added a couple of slides with the kangaroo jumping over some blocks that the children can count. There's also a pdf with animals to cut out and creative play ideas for jumping contests!

Fun Teaching Resource

We've a pdf featuring sixteen different animals from The Champion Hare. Young children will be familiar with a lot of them - zebra, gorilla, giraffe, kangaroo etc and there's a few new ones to learn as well.

There's two copies of each animal. Mount the pages onto thin card and trim them out to use as cards for an animal match memory game. The file has been designed as four separate cards (8 animals on each) so it can also be used as an animal bingo game to help children recognise and learn the names of the animals.
